Honing Your Sight Angle

ANGLE OUT OF ALIGNMENT
ANGLE OUT OF ALIGNMENT

Here are three different 'angles' I'd like you to see. Whether looking through a scope when hunting or arranging speakers on stage at a speaking event, the 'angle' in which you place the necessary objects you need to achieve your goal is critical. In the hunt, your view of the target needs to be precise, not blurred, and the angle of your weapon and scope will determine the outcome of your goal. The same is true for the placement of speakers and 'the speaker' on stage at a speaking event, as this will determine how well the audience hears and understands the speaker's message.

A third example is this. I was recently looking through a grid-style window where vinyl grids are placed on the glass, making it appear as if there were three individual panes of glass within the one window. I was sitting at an angle from the window that made the vinyl grid lines look off and not perfectly aligned. But when I stood up and looked directly in front of the window, I could see the lines were indeed perfectly aligned, seeing the truth.

All three of these examples remind me of how we perceive people and circumstances. Oftentimes, our 'angle' is off, making things appear and sound differently, eschewed from the actual truth. I wonder, if we would allow ourselves to see and hear from someone else's angle or perception, might we see and hear better to achieve our goal?

What is your goal? Is it to bring others to Christ's healing and redemption through the sharing of your own experience, or are you excluding others who don't think or believe like you, simply because you can't see clearly because your angle is off?

Let's ask the Lord to help us hone our sight angles today. To be sensitive to others, and help us see clearly so we can present God's salvation and redemption while we still have time. Isn't this OUR GOAL?

On a journey of Healing and Hope with you,

Terri Lynne
